Description
Introduced in 2021, the very popular Mazda MX-5ClubmanChampionship providesMk1 Mazda MX-5 racers with the opportunity to enjoy competing against each other, however at a lesser cost than the long-established Mazda MX-5 Championship in terms of overnight stays, tyres, fuel, and general car wear and tear. With a15-minute qualifying session, typically followed by 2 x 15-minute races held over a single day on the majority of race weekends (some meetings will very occasionally see three races), racers can still experience all the fun of MX-5 racing, but without the high level of commitment, it takes to race competitively in the MX-5 Championship. The MX-5 Clubman Championship races are hosted on the same meetings as the two-day Mk1 MX-5 Championship, so competitors can still enjoy the support of their teams as normal, and also the brilliant camaraderie and welcomingMX-5paddock. The Mk1 MX-5 is one ofthe best small sports cars of all time, andonewhich provides a true challenge to master for drivers of all experience levels, backgrounds, and ages.The relative simplicity of the cars means theycan be prepared from home or maintained by one of several race teams,and theyprovidea cost-effective way for anyone to compete in a contemporary smallopen-toppedsports car. In addition to overallClubman Championship honours, aMasterscontestis also featuredwithin the series to allow drivers aged 45 and over to fightfortheir own victories and titles.
