Description

The Avon Tyres Super Classic Pre 99 Formula Ford Championship provides a dedicated home to a wide range of classic and historic Kent-engined Formula Fords, allowing them to compete against each other in class and overall head-to-head on some of the UKs finest circuits.

The championship is divided up into a dedicated four-class structure, starting withSuper Classic Afor cars built between 1990 and 1998, throughSuper Classic Bfor cars between 1989 & 1982, thenSuper Classic Cfor cars from 1981 to 1972, and thenSuper Classic Dwhich is a home for the oldest Formula Ford chassis in existence, permitting cars built from 1971 back to the very start of the formula in 1967. Competition is always high in every single class, with no definitive runaway leader in the points standings at any given stage.

One of the longest-standing categories in motorsport, Formula Ford has always been the ideal proving ground for nurturing young, up-and-coming talent for over 50 years and still continues to produce superstars of the future today. Lack of aerodynamic aids means drivers learn how to set up and drive a race car purely on mechanical grip, teaching them valuable lessons that will stay with them for the rest of their racing careers.

Because Formula Ford chassis is all natural so evenly matched and competitive amongst each other, it falls to the ability of both the driver to handle the car and feedback on its characteristics and the team to translate that feedback into an effective setup. Formula Ford has never been a slicks and wings single-seater category, so it all depends on the mechanical grip from the chassis and suspension as well as the tyres to ensure a fast, stable, and effective race car.

Registrations will be accepted until the closing date for entries to the last round.

Entry Fee: 345.00

The Entry Fee for each event shall be specified in the SRs and on the entry form.

We have a dedicated camping area - located inside Lodge Corner just a short stroll from the racetrack, limited to 150 spaces for this event.

Ticket holders are welcome to camp free of charge from 5pm Friday night until 6.30pm on Saturday night but limited facilities are available.

You will need to be in possession of a camping ticket and a valid admission ticket/pass to gain access to the campsite.
